Gossy Ukanwoke (born Sept 21, 1988) is an entrepreneur, investor, and government counsel with an interest in higher education, security, entertainment, and gaming. He has worked with African institutions and governments to plan formative approaches that guide in making better access, quality, and significance of learning in higher education institutions.
In 2014, he established Beni American University, the first online university in Nigeria. The university which is being referred to as "a university of the future" centers around Technology, Entrepreneurship, Business, and Media. Her goal is to foster abilities, raise entrepreneurs and grant direct access to jobs to her students. The university situated in Calabar presently has 25,500+ students on Campus and Online.
Gossy is recognised around the world for his help and commitment to the development of education technology. He has invested in 4 different Universities in Ghana and Nigeria including Rhema University, Aba, Abia state.
He is the Executive Chairman at Alistair Maine Group (AMG.) which is a hospitality group established in 2018, to convey top quality lifestyle, hospitality and leisure experiences around the Lagos Waterways.
In April 2020, Gossy Ukanwoke was appointed the Managing Director of Betking, a sports betting and entertainment company with operations across the African continent.
In June 2020, Betking became the official sponsor of the Kenyan Premier League in a five-year deal worth $11.1m. In November 2020, BetKing took the title sponsorship for the Ethiopian Premier League in a deal worth $22.5m. The Multichoice Group in 2020 procured a 20% stake in BetKing at a detailed 1.8Bn Rand ($120m).
In June 2016, he was named one of the Makers and Shakers of EdTech by WISE and Qatar Foundation. In June 2015, he was named as one of the only six worldwide Accelerating Entrepreneurs by the advisory firm Ernst and Young, for his work in education and human capital development.
In March 2016, He was a finalist for the Young CEO of the Year 2016 award by the Africa CEO Forum.
As an advisor to various young entrepreneurs, new companies, and organizations, he has successfully assisted with creating businesses that are giving genuine answers for issues being confronted daily on the continent across a broad range of sectors including Power, Education, Civil Service, Infrastructure Development and Manufacturing.
His work has been profiled by the World Bank and on CNN, Forbes, Harvard Business School, Forum for Growth and Innovation, The Huffington Post and that's just the beginning. His work has been utilized as a research focus and has been referred to in articles, journals, and other academic publications.
Gossy, born in Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria to an educator father and pharmacist mother went to the Living Word Academy Secondary school, Aba. He thereafter obtained a bachelor's degree in management information systems at Girne American University, Cyprus in 2013. He was the best graduating student. Likewise, he holds a Bachelor of Science certificate in e-Business from the National American University.
