Seun Fakorede (born May 22, 1992) is a Nigerian entrepreneur, speaker and politician. He was the Hon. Commissioner for Youth & Sports, Oyo State Government, Nigeria and a United Nations Ambassador for Peace. He is a also the Founder and Executive Director of Home Advantage Africa, a Social Development and Youth Empowerment Advocacy nonprofit organization.

At 27, he became the youngest commissioner in Nigeria's history when he was appointed Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State in August 2019 to July 2021. Seun was reappointed on October 11, 2021. He is the founder and director of non-profit Home Advantage Africa where he advocates for African patriotism among youths.

Education


Oluwaseun Temidayo Fakorede attended Government College (GCI) Apata, Ibadan. In 2016, he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife. He is an indigene of Idere area of Ibarapa Central Local Government Area, Oyo State.

He proceeded to study “The Art of Management” at Swiss E-Learning Institute, Switzerland after graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering at OAU.

Career 


Seun Fakorede is a registered engineer, entrepreneur, consultant and author. Together with his amazing team, he runs Home Advantage Africa (HAA), a non-profit devoted to promoting local dominance and global stardom in Africa through digital storytelling and other projects of similar ilk.

As a proactive, seasoned and dedicated professional with almost a decade of experience providing comprehensive administrative, operational and managerial support to various organisations — Seun's expertise lies in coordinating and leading administrative and operational functions for senior-level personnels and executives. Backed by exceptional communication and multitasking capabilities, he excels at delivering remarkable results and driving optimal efficiency and success.

Seun's passion, influence and work promoted leadership development and accountability for youths as a critical indices to Nigeria's development through seminars, conferences and other social platforms. 

On his leadership role at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Fakorede was involved in unionism at the institution, despite its proscription that time.

He was also President of Eden, a paramilitary outfit founded by Fela Durotoye. Besides this, Seun noted that he was presiding over a church with working class people attending.

As of today, Seun Fakorede impacts the lives of more than 112,000 youths, business owners and marketers through his blog, products and services. He is constantly called for advice by individuals and brands. 

The Seun Fakorede as he is professionally known enjoys focusing on the topics of Youth Development and Leadership that result in national socio-economic transformation, with an incorruptible passion for Youth Empowerment, Good Governance and Nation Building.

He is the Board chairman, Reasone innovations, an agency for branding, visual communication and marketing and is co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Boddiemax Premium Fashion Brand. 

Before these, the civil engineer worked at Lagos State Development and Property Corporation. Seun also founded a non-governmental organization, Home Advantage Africa, where he is Executive Director. The organization aims to develop the immediate environment of every African youth which he said “I believe once a young man conquers his locality, he has conquered the world.

Awards and Recognitions 


He won The Future Awards Africa Prize for Governance in 2020.

The 31-year-old Seun Fakorede, Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports was named a 2022 Politician of Year by One Young World, receiving his award in Manchester, England in September 2022 alongside four other young politicians from around the world.

In 2016, he was honoured with an award as the Most Influential Male by the Obafemi Awolowo University Awards.  

Seun Fakorede's Father 


Just like his son, Seun Fakorede's Father, Mr. Shola Fakorede, is also an active Politician involved in the Oyo State political scene.

According to an interview online with The Punch Newspapers, Seun Fakorede's Father said he has made significant contributions to his party, People's Democratic Party (PDP) and he is also a founding member of the PDP since 1998. 

Mr. Shola Fakorede contested and won election as vice chairman in his local government in 1999. He was also the party chairman for eight years.

Personal Life 


Seun Fakorede is married to Sylvia Chioma Nwosu. Oyo Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Seun Fakorede, got married to his heartrop Sylvia Chioma Nwosu in Anambra State in April, 2021.

Chioma had met Seun when she was nominated for the Future awards for which Seun was also nominated under a different category.


Seun was nominated for The Future Awards Africa 2020 for Governance (He is the youngest honourable commissioner in Nigeria (Oyo State Government)). While Chioma Nwosu was nominated for The Future Awards Africa 2020 for Health and Wellness for her contribution towards mental health.


Seun loves reading good books, discovering new ideas, trying new food and traveling — He is keenly interested in everything about Africa — Inspiring and nurturing viable network and relationships across the continent.
