Temilade Salami, is a Nigerian Environmentalist, Circular Economy Enthusiast and Marine Biologist with over four years experience leading on various youth-led environmental sustainability initiatives across Nigeria. 


She is the Executive Director of “Ecowarriors”, one of Nigeria’s largest networks of professional environmentalists, leading environmental change through tree planting, ocean conservation advocacy, plastic waste management and environmental education in Nigeria. Her contributions to environmental policies and practice have been deservingly recognised; having been named as a 2020 Nigeria's 25 Under 25 Leader on Energy and Sustainability, 2018 LASEPA Ambassador against Noise Pollution, 2018 Idea Hub Africa Talent of the Future and a 2018 US Consulate’s Carrington Youth Fellow.

Temilade Salami is a Chevening scholar currently studying in the UK. She is able to dabble in leadership and volunteering while studying at Sussex. She functions as the Deputy Chair of the University of Sussex Student Sustainability Committee and is also an International Student Ambassador. In the latter role, she represents the University’s International Office in welcoming new and prospective international students and ensuring they settle into campus with ease. The role allows students to develop their interpersonal communication skills, build their portfolio and increase their employability. It is one of the many ways the University helps students to gain valuable experience for the workplace and prepares them for their career.

On March 4, 2022, Temilade Salami emerged one of three students of the University of Sussex who each won the COP Climate Leader Prizes worth £3,000 in recognition of their outstanding climate leadership and advocacy work.

Temilade Salami also leverages her creative writing and poetic prowess in creating artistic awareness of the need for sustainable green consumerism and proper waste management. She believes that if children are well informed about taking care of the environment at their early age, they would be able to make informed decisions as they grow.

She has authored two environmental books for kids. In 2021, She published a Book, 'Jojo and Jade; Heroes of Mother Earth. According to her, the illustrations and examples provided in the book provides every child with the opportunity to acquire the right knowledge, values, commitment, and skills needed to protect and improve the environment.

“If children are well informed about taking care of the environment at their early age, they would be able to make informed decisions as they grow,” Salami explained in an interview as the core motivation behind the book.

 ‘Catch them while they are young’ is the extant philosophy behind the latest literary work from acclaimed environmentalist, Temilade Salami, a children’s comic dubbed ‘Jojo and Jade; Heroes of Mother Earth’, specially nurtured to simplify and promote environmental sustainability to young kids.
